What a small team gets on Starter
Small businesses usually end up with payroll in one tool, attendance on a device's own software and leave in a spreadsheet. On Starter these are one system, so a payslip traces back to the punches and leave behind it.
- Payroll and tax compliance — PF, ESI, professional tax and TDS, payslips on the web, the PF ECR file, the ESIC return file, the quarterly TDS return worksheet (Form 24Q, or Form 138 from tax year 2026-27), Form 16 for FY 2025-26 and the payroll registers.
- Attendance — geofenced mobile check-in, face check-in, biometric devices, shifts and regularisation.
- Leave — your leave types and rules, comp-off, optional holidays, holiday calendars and leave encashment.
- Expenses and travel — claims with receipts, travel requests and approvals.
- Hiring to exit — recruitment, onboarding checklists, letters on your letterhead, and full-and-final settlement at exit.
- Performance — goals, KRAs and appraisal cycles.
- The mobile app for employees and managers on iOS and Android, with approval workflows, audit logs and bulk import.
What it costs: the real numbers
Starter is ₹100 per user per month with a 25-user minimum, which is ₹2,500 a month for any company of up to 25 users. Above 25, each extra user adds ₹100 a month. Prices are in rupees and exclude GST.
| Company size | Monthly fee | How it is worked out |
|---|---|---|
| 10 users | ₹2,500 | The 25-user minimum applies |
| 25 users | ₹2,500 | 25 × ₹100 |
| 40 users | ₹4,000 | ₹2,500 for the first 25, plus 15 × ₹100 |
| 100 users | ₹10,000 | ₹2,500 for the first 25, plus 75 × ₹100 |
Annual billing takes a discount off the plan fee; the pricing page shows the current annual figures. There is no setup or implementation fee, and the mobile app costs employees nothing.
When the Business plan makes sense
| Plan | Price | Adds |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | ₹100 per user per month, 25-user minimum | The complete HRMS, including payroll and the mobile app |
| Business | ₹50,000 per month for up to 1,000 users, then ₹60 per extra user | Training and certification, the POSH register, analytics and BI reports, project tracking and contractor management |
| Enterprise | Custom pricing | Negotiated terms for complex, multi-entity organisations |
At around 500 users the two plans cost the same, so a growing company that needs the Business modules can move up then. Until that point, Starter is the full HRMS — most small businesses will not need anything else.
Getting started without a consultant
- Book a demo. The Verdeshell team walks through the modules that matter to you.
- The team sets up your account with a 14-day free trial — there is no self-serve sign-up.
- Import employees, departments, salary structures, PF and ESI details, bank details and leave balances from spreadsheets. A dry run checks every row before anything is saved.
- Set up attendance and leave policies, then run a real payroll month during the trial before you decide.
What Verdeshell keeps up to date, and what stays your call
A small team rarely has a payroll specialist. Verdeshell maintains the income-tax rates for each financial year and the state professional tax slabs, so a budget or a state notification does not mean editing formulas. Your company decides its PF and ESI settings, salary structures and leave rules; where a setting looks unusual, the product warns.
What to know before you choose
- Payslips are web only. They are not shown in the mobile app; employees view and download them from self-service on the web.
- Verdeshell prepares the PF, ESI and TDS files; uploading returns on the government portals stays with your team or your accountant.
- Starter includes email support. Priority support comes with Business.
